10th Anniversary Season Tour
JLT opened its 10th Anniversary Season: The Times They Are Changing with a 30-minutes performance of the BOLD JOURNEY Tour show, Juneteenth Blues Cabaret, at the Kentucky State Fair, Friday August 22nd, sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society. JLT Co-Founding Producer, Kristi Papailler, directed; Tanisha Johnson and DuAnne Hawkins performed.
The entire show will be performed, at the Alhambra Theater in Hopkinsville, sponsored by the Pennyroyal Council, Friday November 7th, 7:30 p.m., when guest artist, Linda Kennedy, Artistic Associate of St. Louis Black Rep, joins the cast to complete the trio of divas. Accompanying the performance is a residency for high school students, “The Blues In You”, created and conducted by Papailler. [Click here for residency information] In the interim, Juneteenth Blues Cabaret is scheduled for “Kentucky Onstage”, presented by the Kentucky Arts Council, Wednesday November 5th in Versailles KY. And Juneteenth Blues Cabaret along with Faith Hope and Charity: The Mary McLeod Bethune Story are part of the Juneteenth Legacy Theatre segment in the video showcase at the Performing Arts Exhibit, sponsored by the South Arts Federation, in Atlanta Georgia, September 24th - 27th
Juneteenth Blues Cabaret and Faith Hope and Charity: The Mary McLeod Bethune Story are two of four shows available for bookings this 10th Anniversary Season on the BOLD JOURNEY Tour. Juneteenth Blues Cabaret , our most frequently requested work, is a 24-song classic blues tribute to legendary singers, Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Lena Horne. Faith Hope and Charity: The Mary McLeod Bethune Story is an inspiring bio-drama, with gospel score, about Bethune’s rise from illiterate sharecropper’s daughter to presidential advisor. **School Special** Tall Tales and Short Sayings is “a zesty re-telling” of folk tales by Harlem Renaissance luminary, Zora Neale Hurston. **School Special** August in June.
