Jamboree of New Plays

Juneteenth Legacy Theatre's Jamboree of New Plays opens this weekend with a tribute and exploration of cabaret theater.

The jamboree, a three-weekend celebration of African-American independence, continues through June 23 at Actors Theatre of Louisville. Lorna Littleway is the founder/

producing director of Juneteenth Legacy Theatre, a professional African-American theater company in Louisville.

Each weekend features a different theme.

This weekend's ``red program,'' performed in ATL's Encore Restaurant, features Cecelia Antoinette's ``Watermelon!!! Git it While it's Hot, III'' at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Antoinette is an actress and comedienne who has appeared on ``Sex in the City'' and ``The Chris Rock Show.''

Michael Dinwiddie's ``Cotton Club Rhapsody'' will be performed at 8 p.m. Saturday.

``The Making of Cabaret,'' a participatory program with Antoinette, will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Next week's ``black program'' will focus on plays about legacy and Kentuckiana writers.

The ``blue program'' (June 21-23) looks at contemporary issues and African-American youth.

Tickets are $5 or $35 for a jamboree pass. Call (502) 5841205. Actors is at 316 W. Main St.
